What app is this? The app is appropriately called Watch With Friends, and it’s available on iOS and Android. There’s also a Chrome extension for those who prefer using a computer or have their computer connected to a big TV. How does it work? If you’re the one making the party, you open Netflix and copy the link to the show you want to watch, then use the Watch With Friends app to create a party, paste the link, then set a pin code. You then invite your friends through the app. Those joining the party have a much easier time. They simply search for the name of the pre-made party, join, then choose which device they want to watch on, as Watch With Friends automatically detects any supported devices on your network. Chrome users start a Netflix show, select the Watch With Friends extensions, then follow a similar series of steps to create or join a party. It’s that easy? There are a few caveats to keep in mind. To start, everyone will need their own Netflix account, and Apple TV users have to use Caavo’s companion app to keep everything in sync. You also need to be in the US. Beyond that, it’s smooth streaming. Unless you want to watch something other than Netflix, in which case, you’ll have to wait for the app to expand its scope. Sorry, Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max, and countless others. Bottom line: Watching movies and TV with friends is a good way to spend your time, especially in the middle of quarantine when you probably can’t see each other, anyway. Just make sure you pick something good, like Avatar: The Last Airbender. Via: The Verge
